THE TOUR
Iceland Winter Adventure
Meet the locals
Land of the Horse
In Iceland, there are more than 80,000 Icelandic horses and they are often seen throughout Iceland out in the open fields, trekking along the black sands or on some of the large farms. They are native to Iceland and are said to have been introduced during the Viking occupations from the 9th Century. The Icelandic horse is a breed apart from all other horse breeds, in more than a few aspects, and among its most celebrated features are its five natural, and unique gaits: the walk, the trot, the canter, the tölt, and the flying pace. They are truly amazing animals and on our travels, we learn more about them and their importance to Icelandic culture.
Natures own lightshow
Chase the Northern Lights
Northern Lights Iceland
Iceland is famous for its northern lights, and with such a dramatic landscape watching the Aurora dance above is something to behold. While there are no guarantees of seeing them, we seek them on those clear nights from October to March. It's an incredible thrill heading out into the night searching for them and never knowing where and when they will appear, but when they do, it is as if someone just flipped a switch to nature's most incredible light show. Being here and a part of it lives with you a lifetime.

So much to see and do
Winter Wonders
Of course, there is so much more to do and see in winter in Iceland, head out onto the black sand beaches, walk into the glaciers, marvel at the glacial Lagoon and diamond beach or taste the delicious Icelandic cuisine. The weather can be unpredictable, there can be storms, snowfall and maybe even the odd volcanic eruption but it's all part of the adventure and Icelanders just take everything in their stride. There are of course those other wonderful experiences when one goes to the Blue Lagoon and takes a dip in a thermal bath. One thing is for sure on a short winter break in Iceland you won't be bored.
